Character Design
Ages 12-16, Beginner to Intermediate
Saturday, April 11, 2026
10 AM - 3 PM (with 30-minute break for lunch)
Instructor: Jeff De Lierre
Join concept artist Jeff De Lierre for a workshop exploring the fundamentals of character design for games, film, and visual storytelling. Through demonstrations and guided exercises, students will learn how strong characters communicate personality and narrative through silhouette, shape language, costume design, and expressive poses.
We’ll spend the day building the foundations of great character design, including gesture, anatomy, and material rendering, while exploring how culture, history, and story influence the way characters are imagined and developed. Students will practice translating written ideas into clear visual concepts and leave with new tools for designing their own original characters.

10 AM - 2:30 PM (with 30-minute break)
Instructor: Ryan Greis
In this portrait workshop, students explore the timeless art of drawing a true likeness of the human face, focusing on the four major features—eyes, nose, mouth, and ears—and learning to see them as three-dimensional forms rather than flat shapes. Through guided exercises from multiple viewpoints, we introduce essential anatomy, proportion, and structure to help students create realism and capture personality, with special attention to shape, form, and value in black and white. All materials are provided, and the workshop is ideal for teens who want to strengthen their skills and experience the rewarding process of bringing faces to life on paper.

Hands and feet are among the most challenging subjects for artists, and this workshop tackles them head-on, helping students strengthen their skills and build confidence in drawing these complex features. By breaking down and demystifying the anatomy, we simplify hands and feet into clear, manageable forms that are easier to understand and construct from reference. Each participant receives personalized guidance and feedback, and all art supplies are provided.
